RX-93 Nu Gundam

The "Nu" Gundam (nu as in the greek symbol) is quite possibly the most powerful mobile suit ever created in the universal century era. Designed and built by Anaheim Electronics, this new machine incorporates a staggeringly powerful innovation: the psycoframe. This T-shaped device detects and amplifies latent newtype abilities, and allows the mobile suit's computer to more accurately read the thoughts of the pilot. The psycoframe itself is composed of millions of psycommu receptor circuits. That in mind, the entire cockpit frame is composed of these devices. Combined with the legendary brain of Amuro Ray, the Nu Gundam is frighteningly powerful.

The Nu Gundam's armament is actually quite standard as far as Gundams go. It carries a beam rifle (with an optional grenade launcher), a shield (although the shield mounts a beam cannon and 4 missiles), a beam saber stored in the left forearm, a second, "large" beam saber stored on the backpack, two fire-linked vulcan guns in the head, and a hyper bazooka, which is stored on the back when not in use.

The real kicker to the Nu Gundam is the array of "fin funnels" it carries on its back (the wing-shaped protrusion). While attached to the Gundam, they resemble a large radiator fin setup. However, when they all detach and fold over into scissor-like remote weapons, it becomes a completely different story. Each of these fin funnels can use its advanced beam emitter system to act as a remote beam weapon, but when used in unison, they can generate a full 360-degree beam barrier around the Nu Gundam, protecting it from almost any attack.

This mobile suit was the last machine that the legendary Amuro Ray would ever set foot in. During his final decisive battle with Char (who was piloting a machine also mounting the psycoframe system), the two systems began to resonate. Char, who had set the massive ateroid Axis on a collision course with Earth, was defeated by Amuro and the Nu Gundam, and his cockpit pod was ripped from the mobile suit he was piloting. Amuro then turned his attention to the plumetting Axis, and began a desperate attempt to push it back with the power of the Nu Gundam. Seeing this, the pilots of both sides, EFSF and Neo-Zeon, began to help. The combined power of every pilot, all focused on stopping the asteroid from falling, caused the psycoframes of both the Nu Gundam and Char's suit to overload. The resulting explosion of psychic energy was enough to push back the asteroid, preventing the nuclear winter it had been sent to cause. Amuro Ray and Char Aznable, their minds overflowing with psychic energy, disappeared in a blinding flash of light, which circled the earth several times before finally dissipating. The 14-year-long clash of the two most powerful newtypes ever born was over.
