MSN-04 Sazabi

After assuming control of the recently-defeated Neo-Zeon forces, Char Aznable ordered the construction of a new mobile suit, designed specifically for his use. Its capabilities would be finely-tuned to his particular fighting style, and would put his own Newtype abilities to full use. This mobile suit was known as the Sazabi.

The Sazabi was built secretly by Anaheim Electronics engineers who favored Char's regime over that of the Earth Federation, and incorporated all of the most advanced technology available. It was over 25 meters tall, which made it an imposing sight on the battlefield. Despite its massive build, the Sazabi was incredibly maneuverable when compared to other machines, and was covered in vernier thrusters.

The Sazabi's standard weaponry included a powerful "beam shotrifle" (essentially a beam shotgun), a dual-function beam tomahawk/large beam saber, and a large stylized shield with 3 hidden missiles for backup weaponry. Because the Sazabi's cockpit was in the head (as opposed to the torso), it was able to mount a mega particle gun on its midsection. This powerful weapon was capable of destroying several opponents in one shot. The Sazabi also carried two backup beam sabers (in addition to the large dual-function one), which were stored in the forearms.

The Sazabi, like the RX-93 Nu Gundam, incorporated a cockpit made entirely of the T-shaped "Psycoframe" receptors, and mounted six of the same cylindrical remote funnels that the Jagd Doga carried, which were stored on two moveable pods on the Sazabi's back. The Sazabi was actually the first of the two mobile suits to incorporate the psycoframe cockpit, and it was only after Char ordered the Anaheim engineers to leak the information regarding its existence that the RX-93 was built. It can be speculated that Char knew that Amuro would face him, and wanted their final, decisive battle to be on even grounds.

Though Char was older and more experienced than Amuro, he ended up losing to the young man. The Nu Gundam ripped the cockpit pod from the Sazabi's head, and then went on to try and stop the asteroid Axis from falling on the Earth. This does not necessarily mean that the Sazabi was inferior to the Nu Gundam, but that Amuro was simply more driven to win than Char, who was struggling with the death of the young newtype Quess Paraya at the time.
