MS-14C Gelgoog Cannon

Another Gelgoog variant being developed in parallel with the MS-14B High Mobility Type was the MS-14C Gelgoog Cannon. It was designed to be a heavy artillery version of the already powerful Gelgoog, and while it sported a new beam cannon on its shoulder, the Gelgoog Cannon sacrificed very little in the way of mobility (thanks to a modified B-type backpack). The Gelgoog Cannon proved to be very versatile and effective in combat, but the end of the war cut short its intended mass-production.

The Primary weapon of the Gelgoog Cannon is a large and very powerful RA-2 beam cannon, mounted on a modified High Mobility Type backpack, and extending over the right shoulder. The Gelgoog Cannon's head is slightly different from the standard model, featuring an extra sensor above the mono-eye (most likely for the beam cannon's target-acquisition system) and an exposed ventilation grill on the "mouth", much like that of the MS-06K Zaku Cannon before it. The Gelgoog Cannon is also capable of wielding all standard Gelgoog weaponry, including the beam rifle and double-bladed beam sword. For added firepower, the Gelgoog Cannon can mount optional 3-tube missile launchers in place of the jet thrusters on its forearms (a practical move, really, as the main theater of operations had long since shifted to space, where jet engines are useless).

A total of 15 Gelgoog Cannons were built. After initial testing, 12 of these were deployed in a preemptive strike against the Earth Federation's Tianem Fleet, in what was known as Operation Clarion. Two Gelgoog Cannons were lost, but the damage inflicted on the enemy fleet was enough to convince the Principality that the Gelgoog Cannon was a powerful and effective mobile suit. Before the war's end, Zeonic Company had produced enough components to make a total of 122 new Gelgoog Cannons. These were never completed, though, as the peace treaty marking the official end of hostilities was signed immediately after the final battle at A Baoa Qu.
