GN-007 Arios Gundam

Description

After the decisive battle between Celestial Being and the United Nations GN-X Taskforce, the Gundams were all but completely destroyed. Exia was severely damaged but somewhat operable, Dynames had been dismembered by the Throne Zwei, Kyrios was sliced and shot to pieces, and Nadleeh/Virtue had all but disintegrated. It was time to start anew.

The GN-007 Arios Gundam was part of the "second-string" of 3rd-generation Gundams produced by Celestial Being, and was intended to be a successor to the Kyrios. Like the Kyrios, the Arios is a transformable mobile suit designed for maximum speed/acceleration and maneuverability in both atmospheric and zero-g operations. However, the Arios solves the problem of lacking powerful weaponry that the Kyrios suffered from. Its design also takes into account the fact that GN-Drive equipped mobile suits are now fairly common, and the GN-Drive has been moved from the chest to a more protected area in the pelvis.

For integral weaponry, the Arios mounts two double-barreled GN submachine guns in the forearms, two GN vulcan guns in the head, a pair of GN beam sabers (storage location unknown), and a pair of GN Shield emitters in the shoulder binders. In "Flight Mode", these shoulder binders become the nose of the airframe, and can split apart to either form a GN shield or engage "pincer mode", where they become powerful claws with a GN-field for a cutting edge along their surfaces (closely mimicking the Kyrios' GN Shield and its melee mode). The Arios also wields a GN Twin Beam Rifle, capable of firing in two directions thanks to a hinge built into the upper barrel.

As the Arios was the direct descendant of the Kyrios, its intended pilot was Allelujah Haptism. However, Allelujah was captured during the 2307 battle between the UN forces and Celestial Being. Allelujah was taken to a research/detention facility where he was kept for the next 5 years. Having sustained severe mental and physical trauma in the battle, his murderous alternate personality "Hallelujah" subsequently perished, making Allelujah an almost willing captive in comparison to his previous near-capture. in 2312, though, when Celestial Being staged a raid on the detention facility, Allelujah agreed to come back as a Gundam Meister, and was given control of the Arios. For the remainder of the struggle against A-LAWS and the Innovators, Allelujah Haptism used the Arios to full effect, both on his own and with the aid of Marie Parfacy/Soma Pieres. In the final battle, the Arios was heavily damaged, but Allelujah survived with minimal injuries. He went on to seek out a life of peace and spirituality with Marie/Soma, and were last seen backpacking to a monastery somewhere in Europe.

While heavily damaged, it is possible that the Arios will be repaired or upgraded, and put back into use with a new Gundam Meister.
